Action: 3749 - Rebates for Energy Efficient Upgrades

In 2007 when I purchased a two-family built in 1890, I replaced 16 out of 34 windows with energy efficient Anderson 200 new construction windows. Then in 2010, when I was on fuel assistance, my home was weatherized by Community Teamwork, adding insulation to my attic and basement ceiling, which reduced my energy use by 25%.

Last year, I finished replacing the remainder of my 18 windows with the Anderson 200s. I typically leave my thermostat on at 60 degrees during the day and for sleeping, and needed to have the temperature at 70 degrees during evening hours after work until I went to bed in order to be comfortable. Since replacing the old drafty replacement windows, my nights are more comfortable with a thermostat set at 64 degrees.

Making a plan and taking steps to reducie one's energy use doesn't always happen overnight, but over time can make a real difference in reducing our carbon footprint.
